His grandmother Elsie Ashworth took care of Nathan and his three siblings, Jessica, Deborah and Arran, after Cora's death. He was born on 21st of June, 1996 and he turns 17 at the end of Half Bad. Nathan Byrn's life was hard from the very beginning, his mother Cora Byrn committed suicide when he was at a very young age.
